Translations

The ICEA consensus balloting process involves the review of documents in English only. In the event that an ICEA standard is translated,

only the English language version published by ICEA is the approved ICEA standard.

Use by artificial intelligence systems

In no event shall any content, data, text, technical specifications, tables, figures, or other information contained in or derived from any ICEA Standards documents, drafts, or associated publications be used for the purpose of creating, training, enhancing, developing, maintaining, or contributing to , including without limitation, storing, indexing, embedding, vectorizing, or otherwise making available ICEA content for use by or retrieval through,  any artificial intelligence systems without the express, written consent of ICEA in advance. “Artificial intelligence” or “AI” refers to any software, application, model, or other system, including but not limited to large language models, generative AI systems, foundation models, neural networks, retrieval-augmented generation systems, or any other machine learning or automated decision-making technology, that uses, ingests, or processes data to  analyze, train, fine-tune, synthesize, retrieve,  process, or generate content. Requests for ICEA’s consent must be submitted in writing using the Contact Us form and are subject to ICEA’s sole discretion. Any consent granted by ICEA shall be limited in scope to the specific use described in the written request, shall be non-transferable, and shall not be construed as authorizing any additional or expanded use of ICEA content.  Prior consent for any use does not constitute consent for any subsequent or different use.  Any unauthorized use of ICEA Standards content in connection with Artificial Intelligence systems constitutes copyright infringement and a breach of these terms, and ICEA expressly reserves all rights and remedies available at law and in equity, including injunctive relief and the recovery of damages, attorneys’ fees, and costs.

Copyrights

ICEA draft and approved standards are copyrighted by ICEA under U.S. and international copyright laws. They are made available by ICEA and are adopted for a wide variety of both public and private uses. These include use by reference, in laws and regulations, in private self-regulation and standardization, and in the promotion of engineering practices and methods. By making these documents available for use and adoption by public authorities and private users, neither ICEA nor any its licensors waives any rights in such documents, including without limitation, copyright and other intellectual property rights.
